An original letter of correspondence from Ysvt H. Richardson Scott to Samuel Colt, Esq. Hartford, Conn. dated January 26, 1860 in regard to a call for arms exchange for the revolving rifle muskets for Calvary Sabres and pistols. This document was derived from The Joseph Laico Collection of the Civil War. This important paperwork was from Lot 12, Sale 8243 on May 12, 1999 from Christies New York. Also included is a typed out letter which translates exactly what is written in the original letter. |
1860 Letter & News Clip From C.w. Weaver To Colt

An original letter or correspondence to Col. Samuel Colt of Hartford, Conn, and original newspaper clipping which is referenced in the letter, dated February 1860. The letter is from a C.W. Wever concerning a property deal between his son Adam Weaver and Col Samuel Colt. The newspaper clipping refers to the property and it's value, size etc. This group of fantastic Civil War Collectibles was obtained at auction from a fine Estate. This document was derived from The Joseph Laico Collection of the Civil War from May 12th 1999 Lot 14, Sale 8243 from Christies New York. Also included is a typed out letter which translates exactly what is written in the original letter.

1861 Letter To Colts Patent Fire Arm Manfg'

An original 1861 letter from the Civil War. This is a letter signed by Brig. General, C.S.A. J.R. Anderson & Co. to Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Co. from Richmond Virginia dated April 8, 1861. The headed stationery reads "Tredegar Iron Works, fine. The opening line reads: "In you letter of 9th Feb. to us you say: "we could furnish you at once with 250 of our new model Army of Holster pistols and at the rate of say etc....... Also included is a typed out letter which translates exactly what is written in the original letter.

1860 Durly Muster Roll Doc.

Original paperwork.This paperwork includes the Confederate Army, First Alabama Regiment Manuscript muster roll, endorsed by Capt D.R. Durly, Montgomery, Alabama. There are 4 pages in large folio form endorsed on verso in pencil. Also included is a typed out letter which translates exactly what is written in the original letter.

Uss Chicago / Sailors Personal Chest

WWI Ship, USS Chicago Sailor’s chest filled with the sailors personal items. The beautiful hand painted work on the top of box is of seahorses, an anchor and four stars. When you lift the top of the box, there is a hand painted lifesaver with "U.S.S. Chicago" on it.
Surrounding the lifesaver there are 5 rows of stars, each with a name of a sailor painted on it.
This inside piece comes down when you turn the hinges up (used like a mini desk) and there is more hand painted work on that side of the wood of a lifesaver with the "USS CHICAGO--U.S.N." a large gold star in the center with an evening ocean & ship scene behind.
The unique collection inside the box includes: the sailor’s personal items from the Navy. The sailors name was Paul A. Kline and there are personal diaries and logs filled with his own artwork, paper clippings, personal photographs etc. Also in the box is a little leather purse, a Navy mirror inside a Khaki material case which says on the front "Paul A. Kline U.S.S. Chicago Service 1917-1918", a felt armband "V.F.W.", with a stripes bar medal, a U.S.S. Chicago felt hat. Reads as follows: "Sparrow Ship 1269 V.F.W. U.S.S. CHICAGO." a 1916 map, many pictures of Paul A. Kline in his Sailor's uniform and as an older man, etc., One Yuan from Shanghais dated 1921, membership cards, Veteran cards, a menu from the 37th Annual Reunion and Banquet for the U.S.S. Chicago World War I Association from 1957. The inside of the menu is autographed from the different Crewmembers and Veterans, pictures of ships during WW1 and much more. Throughout his journals and diaries there are sketches and little works of art all done by the sailor Paul A. Kline. He was quite a talented artist.

Included in the lot is a photo of George Capron beside his horse; An envelope from his place of business stamped on front: "GEORGE O. CAPRON MAKER OF HIGH-GRADE SNOW SHOES BOONVILLE, N.Y. 19 SUMMIT ST.----RETURN IN FIVE DAYS" with drawing of snow shoes on envelope;
A group photo including his girlfriend who is marked with a red dot. Handwritten on back of photo: "Dona Cumming Durkin. Handwritten poetry dated Oct. 24 1889; Group of receipts for "CONGDON & RADEL, Dr. dealers in Flour, feed, grain, brick, cement, hard wall plaster etc. dated: 10/15/1910, Jan 4, 1910; Handwritten love poem. Group of Popular Western Song lyric sheets approximately 20 sheets. |

Wild West Program With Annie Oakley Colt Ad

Official 1913 Wild West Program.
"Young Buffalo Wild West Co. Cummins Far East Season 1913."
Front of program has a Colt ad represented by Miss Annie Oakley. Reads as follows: "Miss Annie Oakley uses a Colt's Revolver in her daily exhibition work with the Young Buffalo Wild West Vernon C. Seaver's Hippodrome Col. Cummins Far East Shows and is highly pleased with its superior action and construction."
"Back of program has a Dupont Sporting Powders ad which also uses Miss Annie Oakley as a spokesperson. Reads as follows: "Miss Annie Oakley Prefers Schultze for shotgun and Lesmok for Rifle Work."
